For over 15 years, Orígenes has presented the best Latin American music has to offer, in all its richly varied rhythms, so as to spread the culture of those countries. For this reason, Orígenes presents salsa, music from the Andes, Mexican music in all its forms, reggae in Spanish, Spanish rock, tangos, cumbias, music new and old. Origenes also offers news, community announcements, interviews. -Rogelio Ramos-Guerra

The Latin Train/"El Tren Latino" - (with Mike Bongard, SATURDAYS 8-10pm EST, www.chuo.fm)
The Latin Train began June 7, 1997, with the dream of offering Ottawa Latin-music fans access to some of the great sounds coming out of New York City, Havana, Miami and other centres of production of Latin jazz, salsa and Cuban son. We seek to avoid the commercialized "product" in favour of the authentic "roots" music, created, produced and marketed mainly by the artists themselves. We also wish to support, with airplay and promotion, those Latin musicians who grace Ottawa stages with their presence and art. -Mike Bongard
