ABOUT

Lindsey has been playing piano and West African Hand Drums for more than 15 years. She has studied under many teachers, including Babatunde Olatunji, David Rakowski (Brandeis), Yehudi Wyner (Brandeis), Joe Galeota (Berklee), and John McDonald (Tufts). She has a Masters in Music Composition from Tufts and a Bachelors in Music from Brandeis University.

During 2004, Lindsey's recording of the song traditional song "Yiriba Ye" became a runaway hit single in Mali, West Africa. The original arrangment of the traditional song proved a success with the people in Mali. The song was initially recorded in Switzerland as an instrumental piece with Mali's rising musical star Sinaly Papus Diabaté on Guitar. The addition of vocals occured months later at Timbre Drums Studios in New Hampshire (USA). The compelling vocal arrangement/ performance by Lindsey Schust and Grace Schust makes the song stand out on the new CD "Kara Bara" by Sinaly Papus Diabaté & the Kanouya Band. www.cdbaby.com/cd/spapus

In the spring of 2005, Lindsey released the solo CD "Dónde está mi corazón" which features original songs in traditional Cuban styles. It has been featured on several radio shows around the world including: University of Ottawa's CHUO 89.1 FM, Melbourn Australia's PBS 106.7 FM, and Italy's on-line station: www.soysalsero.com. On 29 October 2005, Lindsey was interviewed on Mike Bongard's show "The Latin Train" at CHUO 89.1 FM.
